Museums meet Adult Educators - MumAE
International conference of the EU Grundtvig Project MumAE “Museums meet Adult Educators”:
Copenhagen, Denmark, 23-24 September 2010
The conference was the closing event of the Grundtvig project “MumAE – Museums meet Adult Educators” (2009-2010), which aims at supporting the encounter and the transfer of knowledge between museum and adult educators at European level. It is addressed in the first place to professionals working in umbrella organisations both in the museum and in the lifelong learning field, to museum educators and to adult educators.
The project MumAE set out from two assumptions: on the one hand, that museums can be places of social integration and agents for the renewal and growth of local communities, addressing and attracting all segments of the population, therefore contributing to the development of quality lifelong learning; on the other, that there is an uneven development of adult educational activities in and within museums throughout Europe. The interdisciplinary and trans-sectoral approach adopted by the project and featured in the conference, will allow adult education providers to learn from and about museums, and vice-versa. The conference will be the physical space for the encounter between the two sectors, allowing professionals from the two fields to gain mutual knowledge and establish contacts Europe-wide.
