We are pleased to inform you about the conference ”From Youth culture to cultural heritage. Popular music in museums an archives”, which will take place on 11th-12th of June 2019 in Trondheim, Norway, at Rockheim – The Norwegian National museum of popular music.

During the last decades there has been an increasing interest in the cultural value of popular music and its material past. This has led to the establishment of a wide range of archives, museums and Hall of Fame-institutions, dedicated to collecting, preserving, curating and celebrating popular music as cultural heritage.

We hope to bring together colleagues from Europe working in museums, archives and libraries, scholars and students, to discuss and reflect upon questions dealing with popular music history as cultural heritage.

So far, two keynote speakers are confirmed:

  • Professor Andy Bennett (Griffith University, Australia) and
  • Bob Santelli (Founding CEO at The Grammy Museum, US).

A formal invitation to the conference and general information about the venue, how to get there and accommodations, will follow in late January 2019.

Expected conference fee: 105-125 EUR

Please save the dates and let us know if you or your institution are interested in presenting something at the conference!
